Family ...

Life has been busy here at our home lately. Two of our boys graduate next week ~ Jase from high school and Luke from eighth grade.

It is a bittersweet time. I'm so very proud of the godly young men my boys have become and yet I miss that "little boy" sweetness. Yet, they remain joys to be with who still love being with family and for that I am so thankful. I heard Jase on the phone recently with a friend explaining that though he would love to visit with his friend, he had worked a lot lately and needed some time with his family. Such a blessing!

So today I just decided to share some family photos. I have no greater blessing on earth than to share my life with these precious souls.

Luke (14), Jeffrey (?), Jase (18)

One of family favorite fun activities is playing crochet outdoors. My mom and dad always played with my sister and I. Even as we became adults, Mom & Dad brought the fun of this game into our church group and the whole bunch of us would play at picnics and outings. Now when we ask the boys what they want to do today, often they'll say "let's play crochet." This photo was taken during one of those games. The expression on Luke's face tells you that he did NOT win! LOL But no matter who wins, we always have fun!

Jeffrey & Colton (10)

Jeffrey & Colton ~ best buddies ~ but Colton will forever be a Mama's boy. God gave this precious child an extra dose of sweetness and love. He is loved by everyone who meets him. He has made more friends in his 10 short years than I in my 40 years! He is truly a blessing to our lives.

Finally here is a photo of me with my new kitten, Cotton ~ short for Cotton Candy! Isn't he the cutest thing you've ever seen? He only has a black tail and one black spot near his ear. And he is a runt so he is so tiny that he looks like a doll.

If you haven't yet, scroll on down to my Giveaway Post. There's still to win a primitive bunny!

Have a blessed weekend,
Lea

Lea,

You've got some handsome boys! Your Colton sounds like my Joy. She is just a social butterfly that attracts people and she makes friends so easily. I also have a son named Colt! He's sweet too, but a little more reserved than she is, although he can be a real goof ball!

Your kitty is precious. We have two kitties that will soon be a year old.

Thanks for sharing your lovely family with us! You have reason to be proud!

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Cotton is too cute! So are your children!!! :) Your life is in transition time. How fun! New adventures lie ahead! :) Congratulations on your boys' graduations!

I have to tell you a funny story Lea. As you know, Brooke is with the Campbells. She was playing around with Evangeline's kids while they were visiting grandpa & grandma's house, and Brooke grabbed her camera to take pics. She put it away as she was finished, when one of the kids did something cute, so she quick, grabbed her camera again and snapped a picture of him. Nancy of course thought the pictures of her beloved grandchildren were cute and took them along with her when she went to town to the magazine layout / graphic design person /editor. Anwyay, this guy LOVED the last picture that Brooke took on the fly. He said it is some of the 'very best' (get this!!!) 'professional' photography he has ever seen! He said that 'that' picture will be the cover of the next Above Rubies magazine! OHHH Lea, if you only knew how funny this all is. Brooke knows 'nothing', and I mean 'absolutely nothing' about photography. She has always been intensely interested, but it is one thing we never were able to get to in our homeschooling. Brooke and I are cracking up laughing over the irony of this! Nancy was so thrilled for Brooke and excited about this guys opinion, that she called Brooke right away from this guys office to tell her. There. Now you have the 'inside' story about how the next issue's cover came into existence and can have yourself a good chuckle when you see it. :)

Hi Lea,
BEAUTIFUL family! What a wonderful post to read. I love hearing of families like yours. I, too, have awesome kids who are more adults than children and am so proud of them. Yet I miss them from when they were little kids, too! I'm so glad you shared your family with us. You are very blessed indeed.

You have a very Handsome Family! I just went to my nephews Graduation tonight and it just amazes me that the kids have grown up so fast, it doesnt seem like it was that long ago they were stepping onto a school bus for the very first time!
It sounds like you and your Hubby have done a wonderful job of raising all your boys!
Have a Blessed weekend!

All the smiles are beautiful. You can truly see the joy of the Lord in all your faces. My daughter graduated last May and went off to the University of Kentucky. It has been a big adjustment for me. It seems when they graduate from High school they think they are all grown up, but will always remain a baby to a mother.

Enjoy all this time you have with them and make wonderful memories.

Hugs, RoseMarie

What a lovely family! I can think of nothing sweeter than a post about your wonderful family!

I too am blessed with kids that want to be with family and make time - even though they are now grown. When our son went away to college, he had a blog of sorts and his opening page spoke of the most important thing in his life - his family. When I saw that - I cried. Our daughter, now 27, still calls me daily to check in tell me she loves her mummy bummy. How blessed am I?

Enjoy those handsome fellas, something tells me no matter what stage they are at, or where they go, home will always come first!

hugs, Linda

Oh, Lea!
I know what you mean about the excitement for our babies, but it is bittersweet, for us.
Our oldest daughter graduated from high school last year and still loves to be with us! We just do so much as a family -- I wouldn't have it any other way!

It's heartbreaking, to me, when I hear about how most teens treat their families. But it helps me to remember never to take for granted how very blessed I am!

I haven't played croquet in almost forever -- you've made me want to dig up our set! How wonderful that you've been able to continue a family tradition with your boys!
You can tell they're having such fun and what great sports they are!

Y'all have a safe Memorial Day!
Many Blessings,
Julie

Lea! What a wonderful family you have! I know just what you mean about the mixed blessing as our kids get older...I only have one son and each time he hit another graduation, I would rejoice with sadness! That is the only way I could explain it...happy he made it through, yet sad that he was growing older! However, let me tell you, you never lose your sons...they are yours forever...my son is visiting us right now...my 38 year old baby! He is still my boy, my young man, I am still his "Mom".

God bless you and your family, Lea!

What a beautiful family you have! It is so wonderful and sad at the same time to watch your kids grow up! My 'baby' graduated from college 2 weeks ago--I teared up pretty good, of course, and still can't believe she is really grown!

Your kitty is so cute. We just rescued one from the roadside last week. She was about starved to death, but is finally looking better.

Hi Lea...
What a precious and handsome group of guys...the love just surrounds their spirits. My husband has the same t-shirt about Homeland security. He was raised on the Rosebud rez so statements like these are important to him.
Your new kitty is cute, but not as adoreable as you...LOVE the quilt behind you too! smiles, Kat

Lea, that's a handsome bunch of men you have there and the way you spoke of them, truly a blessing to have around. Oh, the little kitten is so sweet. I often think of having a pet but for some reason it's a short lived thought. I hope you guys had a beautiful holiday. It's pouring rain here right now with thunder and lighting, the works. I love it though its very good for my plants. Deb

What a lovely family you have. You are a wise woman to realize how bittersweet the time is- soon they will sprout wings and fly- the good news is that -after a time- those precious boys will still love home and momma and daddy and whether they live nearby or not- they will leave a deposit of their heart with you and will renew it every time they return! It is so precious to know how much your kids love you when they are kids but when they are adults and they love you- it is ecstatic joy!!!
Thanks for sharing your family with us!
