Bloggy wins & weekend chatter

I recently won two lovely giveaways and just wanted to share my gifts ~

From Patricia at Vintage Linen Treasures I received this beautiful hand-embroidered linen. I just love it and will use it in my bedroom redo in April. I am so drawn to vintage & farmhouse accents that I just know I'll be adding more of those pretty things to my home decorating. If you enjoy vintage treasures, you will certainly enjoy visiting Patricia's peaceful journal. Thank you so much, Patricia!

And on Friday, I receive these treasures in the mail from Dena at Crazy Lady Primitives. Each is in one of my favorite fragrances, Pumpkin Crunch Cake. Honestly, I wish you could smell this. Even my boys were impressed. They agree that it smells exactly like the real thing ... so much that I had to bake them some pumpkin bread that evening! LOL Thanks, Dena, for sharing!

Our weekend has been a quiet one.

On Friday, I did take Jase (19) to the doctor. He fainted on Thursday morning for no apparent reason and now the doctor wants to run some tests on his heart. So we'll go to the hospital on Monday for an EKG and then he'll wear a heart monitor for 24 hours to record his heart function. He will not be released to drive until they rule out any problems that might occur again since this happened last April as well. Yet another challenge before us it seems. But God has brought us through some pretty tremendous challenges, and I'm certain He'll carry us through this one as well.

So today we stayed quietly at home. Jase did go to work for a couple of hours but they sent him home early to rest. And while he rested, Jeff & the younger boys spent the day having a "Matchbox Car Challenge." They run this little plastic car track from a table in the living room to the slick floor of the kitchen. Then the cars are sent down the track and they race to see whose can go the farthest across the long kitchen floor. Oh the fun a little gravity can afford!

You would think they were actually racing at Nascar with the whooping and cheering going on. Colton loves it ~ he hums, rocks and flaps at the same time which is a sure sign that he is a happy kid! They have hundreds of cars and they have a name for each ~ names like Orange Peel, Yellow Lightening, The Monkey, Golden Sun, and The Lion. And what amazes me is that they know them all without fail! (And Colton tries to tell me that he can't possibly remember the 50 states???? I don't buy that for one minute.) DH still has cars from his childhood and has bought cars for the boys since Jase was born. It is quite a sight! Just watching them, I feel like I get a little peek at my husband when he was a boy.

Meanwhile, I sat at the end of the kitchen as "judge" and folded laundry, watched some videos on Square Foot Gardening while taking notes and did some baking. I think I've hardly left kitchen all day but it was pleasant nonetheless.

Tonight we're going to watch a family movie. Did you know you can watch movies on-line for free? We only have one channel at home and most all of it is indecent for viewing so I was thrilled when the boys discovered a way we can selectively choose a movie now & then ~ even the old family classics that most video shops don't even carry these days. And I am so hoping that I get to do a little hand sewing while we enjoy the movie!

Hope you're all enjoying your weekend as well!

Blessings,
Lea

Maybe you need to send the fifty states down the track!

You and your boys have touched my heart and are in my prayers. And yes, no matter the trial God is always there to take us through isn't He. I am reminded of a passage that hit me hard this week, hard with comfort. "For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life. Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us, you also helping together in prayer for us, that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the gift granted to us through many." 2 Cor. 1:8-11.

Sorry if this comment is too long.

Sweet Lea,
I am praying, praying for your Jase. Our middle son, Matthew, has also had the return of a health issue that we thought was completely healed. We are now praying for his good and perfect health to return. One thing about being a mom - your prayers never cease regardless of how old your children are :)

Congratulations on all of your new goodies! I love vintage linens. Molly and Madelyn don't want to sleep on pillowcases unless they have "thready flowers" on them.

Have a wonderful Sunday with your precious boys.
love, Mary

Lea-
I'm sending prayers for Mr. Jase up, right now! I just know that he's going to be great!

What a sweet day -- to watch your little ones playing. I can't believe they have so many cars! That's just too neat that they have your husband's childhood cars, as well, to play with. That's such a sweet thought - that you get a glimpse of your husband as a little boy - when you watch him play with your sons.

Where were you watching about square foot gardening? I need to see that, too, and soon -- hubby just built our beds!

Okay, I'm gonna zip it, now!
Love and Blessings to you and your sweet family,
Julie

You scored some really nice goodies there too! I love old hand embroidered linens and am always on the search for them at the thrift stores. You'll have to post pics of your bedroom re-do when you're finished!
I baked a banana bread today, and wish I could capture the aroma in a jar and open it up from time to time to fill the house... :)
Have a blessed week..

Hi Lea,

I am so sorry for the scare with Jase. I hope it amounts to nothing and he can be driving sooner than later. I will keep him and you all in my prayers.

I used to bulid towers with tracks for Jay when he was little and it would entertain us for hours as well. Sometimes the simple games are the best!!

hugs, Linda

Hope all Jase's test come back normal and he won't have anymore trouble. Your weekend sounded relaxing. I went to work with hubby Sun. and I met the sweetest lady. She makes those glass presents with the beautiful ribbon and lights inside. Well she let me pick one out to bring home. I was so excited. I may try to get a pic up on my blog to share. Your car races sound like some of the fun my son and husband uase to have. Micah still has all his old cars and trucks, but they are in boxes for now...
Your goodies look beautiful. I recognized your 'Anne' music, since I have watched that movie about 100 times!
I'm going to check out the free on-line movie site. Thank you! It's always so nice to visit you!
