So on 4th of July morning, I went out early and picked some nice fresh berries to make a cobbler. It was so good and thought you might enjoy the simple recipe as well.
Simple Blackberry Cobbler
1 cup self rising flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
3/4 stick butter
1 cup blackberries (or just whatever you have ~ sometimes I even throw in 2 cups!)
1 tsp vanilla
Melt the butter and place in a 2 quart baking dish. In a separate bowl, mix flour, sugar, milk and vanilla. Mix well. Then pour mixture over melted butter. Do not stir. Toss your fruit right on top. Again do not stir.
Bake at 350 degrees until crust rises and browns.
You can substitue your fruit too. I've used peaches and heard others say they have used apples or plums and of course all the other wonderful berry varieties.
This is especially yummy served with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!
This batch is all gone. I think I'll go bake another!
Enjoy,
Lea

Oh, that looks so delicious! I'm taking the kids out today to hopefully pick some wineberries. They are my absolute favorite and grow all over the mountainsides here. My plan is to try a blueberry and wineberry cobbler tomorrow evening. Wish us luck!
Thank you for you post about my fabrics. I'm starting to cut into them, but really hate to. Once I cut, it's no longer a whole, beautiful piece, lol. It wouldn't be quite right to just sit and look at a piece of fabric though, huh?
By the way, I LOVE your banner. It's just beautiful.
Blessings,
Jenny
Lea, I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing 4th! I'm telling you, I would weigh even more than I already do if I lived at your house!!!! That looks delicious. I can never pass up cobbler! Napolean is the cutest thing!!! He'd fit in your pocket. I hope you, Napolean, and the rest of the family have a super week.

Thanks for the recipe Lea. It looks delicious! I think I should give that a try. I picked some black raspberries from my neighbor's last week and make a batch of jam and the leftovers I made a small batch of cordial. I should go over and pick some more to make the cobbler.
I've used a very similar recipe many times, as I don't really 'do' crusts (at least not well!). Your cobbler looks so delicious, and I LOVE that dish!
This time of year always reminds me of picking berries, covered frome head-to-toe in an attempt to avoid chigger bites. There are few things which compare to the taste of blackberries, ripe off the vine. MMmm mmm GOOD! ;-)
Thats looks scruptious Lea, I love the bowl you have it in also. My recipe is simply pie crust flour coated berries and sugar to taste. I found if I added in about 2-3 tablespoons of flour, it won't cook over in the over as bad. The pie bird helps with this also.
Lea,
I still can't thank you enough for the great recipe! We all loved the blackberry cobbler and it only lasted about 3 hours around here and it was GONE!
Thanks so much! I would love to do strawberries too! But this weekend, we're going to Alabama for a family reunion...that's where he picked our blackberries, so I hope to get more and make another!
Thanks a bunch, Lea! Have a great week!

That recipe brings back memories. As a child we would go camping during late summer in Oregon and pick the wild blackberries. Then my mother made the best cobler using those berries.

What a yummy dessert! I think I will make cobbler tonight with some of the blueberries I have in the freezer. How is your new baby boy doing? what a cutie!
Thanks for sharing, Lea!
Your recipe sounds yummy!! Going to save it to try later.
Hugz,
Cathy
That looks soo yummmy.Blackberries grow wild around here so I`ll definatly be making this!!I`ll let you know how it turns out!!
I copied the recipe down. Hubby and I both like blackberry cobbler. Unfortunately, we don't live where the berries grow. I will have to buy some at the grocery store.
Napoleon looks like he could soon rule the roost at your house! He'll be spoiled in no time. I'm sure your family will enjoy him.
Thanks for sharing the recipe it looks yummy!:0)~Wendy
Lea, We always seem to be on the same page. I just made blueberry jam and cobbler. The next thing on the list is blackberries. I'm going to try that recipe it looks scrumptous! Karen
Lea, I tried this with my ever-plentiful mulberries, and it was excellent!
Thanks for the recipe :)
Lea, bless your heart! I've been trying to find a good recipe for blackberry cobbler. Jack and Molly (aka Grandboy and Grandgirl) and I picked our first quart last week and froze them until I could find a good recipe- they have been asking for cobbler- they will be very happy tomorrow when we get the berries out and make that cobbler! Thank you!!!
Blessings and hugs,
Pam
Oh my! I made this yummy cobbler today with blueberries - my family thinks I am now the best cook in the world! Thank you for this easy, easy recipe that is absolutely delicious.

Oh how I wish that we had lots of blackberries........sigh......
That blackberry cobbler looks so delicious!!! Wish that I had some self-rising flour (I almost never have any -- only all-purpose) I've got some frozen blackberries.
That puppy is so cute! Those indoor puppies really become a part of the family in a way that no other pet does.....
Blessings,
Julie
The cobbler looks so good. I love any kind of cobbler! My husband has gotten into making homemade ice cream. It sure would be good with the cobbler. I am going to try your recipe.
Have a great day!
As much as I love blackberries, I don't think I've ever had them in a cobbler. I am definitely going to try this recipe. Sounds easy and tasty. My favorite things!
YUM!! I wish we had berries like that here. We can grow strawberries. Looks so good. Have a great day. Julie
Looks like my kind of "SIMPLE" recipe, so I will snag it Lea. I was looking for a cobbler receipe when we had too many Chilton County peaches here. I made one but it was not good. I know we will get more peaches and blackberries, si I will print it off and thank you for every bite!
thanks and smiles, cyndi
Here in WV our blackberries won't be ready for another couple weeks. I love blackberry cobbler and will give this recipe a go for sure.
The bowl that holds the cobbler is 'beautiful!' :)
That looks SOOOO good! I wish I could have some with you right now! When is the best time to plant blackberries?
Hugs,
Kathy
