Grandma's Quilts

Well my mom has been busy again sewing up some quilts for the family. Last year, Colton was the lucky recipient of one of Grandma's handmade quilts. This year Luke and Aaron each received their quilts at Christmas.

Mom, Luke and Dad

Mom, Nephew Aaron and Dad

Mom lovingly hand-appliques each piece, and her quilts are so colorful and beautiful. She even designed the Tennessee Volunteer quilt to match the bedrooms of my nephews while she made Farmer Boy quilts for each of my boys. I just love how she added the little footballs, don't you? And all those little "T's" at the corners ... each hand-appliqued! Amazing ...

And for my upcoming Springtime birthday, Mom has created the most amazing yellow & white flower quilt for me. Yellow is one of my favorite colors, but I don't have a yellow thing around. So this spring, our bedroom is getting a springtime makeover with all yellows and whites.

Here's a sneak peek at my quilt that I'm not allowed to use until April!

Isn't is so pretty? The flowers are blue & purple & green & pink & all the shades of wildflowers. So I'm shopping the Goodwill now for a white duster and curtains to give my room a cheerful springtime feel ~ lots of lace and linens! There's not a primitive thing about it, but I love it just the same. Thank you, Mom!

Smiles,
Lea

How beautiful, Lea!!!! Your Mom is so talented and so generous!!!! I'm sure the boys will cherish those quilts forever. And yours. . . . .!!!!! Can't wait to see the bedroom when it's done. I love yellow, too --- but nothing in my house is done in yellow either! Strange, isn't it????

Since I am an "orphan" you could let your mom know that I am always up for adoption! I'd sharpen her needles for her! Sweep, dust, make myself useful!

Okay, I guess that might be a little impractical. I'll just covet from afar, your quilts and your mom!

What beautiful quilts, Lea. Just beautiful workmanship, too. I have always wanted a simple yellow & white quilt to go at the end of our bed, an older one. Have a wonderful evening.

Your mom's quilts are beautiful. They mean so much more knowing each was stitced with love. She put her loving touch on them.
While searching for a duster don't pass up lacey curtains or tableclothes. I made my duster out of 2 older linen tableclothes I tea dyed and added a border. I try to do as much as I can without buying something "new". It helps to give me that prim/make do look I love.
