Pumpkin Spice Everything!
A Recipe & A Giveaway

I don't know about you, but Spice Pumpkin is my favorite fragrance of all. It doesn't have to be autumn either ~ though it is especially nice this time of year. Whether its a candle, a soap or a freshly baked prim (you prim artists know this well), I just can't get enough Pumpkin Spice all year round!

The only drawback is that all those spicy fragrances leave us Blakneys craving fresh baked bread ... and I usually feed the craving by baking Pumpkin Bars. This recipe was the very first baked item that I ever learned to make from scratch and I always enjoy making it again and again. I posted it last year but it just seems a perfect time to share it again.

It is sooo good ~ especially for cool mornings now that we can warm up our ovens and make our kitchens nice & cozy.

Photo credit goes to Colton Blakney ~ Photographer in the making

PUMPKIN BARS

What you'll need:
2 eggs
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup oil
3/4 cup flour
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2/3 cup canned pumpkin

What you'll do:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a medium mixing bowl, beat eggs. Stir in sugar & oil and mix well. Sift all dry ingredients and add them to the egg/sugar/oil mixture. Mix well. Add pumpkin to the mixture and stir well again. Pour into a greased 12x8 baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Remove from oven and cool completely. Then you can cut them into squares. They hold their shape nicely and look great on a nice serving plate.

All done! My boys & husband just love these so much that I have to make two batches if I intend to have one.

Well Kay at The Rustic Cottage is hosting a giveaway for two bars of her delightful handmade soap in her new fall scents of Pumpkin Spice and Chia Tea. They are just so nice and I believe she sells them in her Etsy shop too. So stop by her blog for a visit and be sure to sign up for this fun contest!

Smiles,
Lea

Thumbs up on the pumpkin bars!

Lea, I made your recipe for tonight's dessert. They are yummy, and being devoured quickly! ;-)

I don't have an 8x12 pan, so I poured the batter into my 9x13 pan. Thinking the batter looked too thin in that pan, I decided to move it into my 8x8 pan. As a result, mine are probably a little more cake-like than bar-like, but the taste is the same-delicious!

I'm thinking these would be good with a cream cheese frosting. ;-)

Oh, my! I do love punkin bars--especially iced. Oh and frosted creams too. Oh and bread pudding and rice'n raisins---I think it is definitely time to bake. Yummy!
BTW--I put 20 new recipes on my blog and am currently researching some heart-healthy ones. Busy. busy. I invented a Cuban pulled pork taco that was so good. Forgot to take a picture so will have to make it again. Darn my good luck....
Pat Colton on the back for me. I think he shows great photographic talent!!

Pumpkin bars look yummy! I too love candles of pumpkin spice. Hows school going? My days have been very long. Just cant seem to get into a good grove. Or maybe the work is just harder and the boys are having a little more trouble. Either way I have not been able to blog at all. Hopefully soon things can get into a somewhat normal schedule.(I hope)
Hope you have a wonderful weekend. Blessings, Karen

Hi Lea!
Colton is a good photographer! I wonder if he would like a blog of his own? I think Micah would have liked that when he was younger.
Your recipe looks so good, I'm going to copy it off, and soon post one for brown bread from my grandma. It's a really old recipe, but so good!
Love, Debra

Oh, Lea!
Pumpkin Spice is my favorite, too!
It's such a comforting fragrance -- not too fruity or overpowering, just soothing and homemade!!!

I usually try to make it to Bath & Body Works during their "semi-annual clearance sale" and I buy that fragrance in the little cans for just $1 (they normally sell for $5) I load up and spritz the house year 'round!

That pumpkin bread sounds delicious. I'll bet that our children would love to make some with Mommy. I don't bake with them NEARLY enough!

Tell Colton that he took a great picture!

I'm off to paint.... the high today is only supposed to get to 80!!!! Yay!

Many Blessings,
Julie
