Monday, January 25
a cloud filled sky is filtering out the sunshine, and a cold wind is beginning to blow again. The weatherman predicts freezing rain by Thursday.
My heart is longing for spring.
I am thinking....
several friends who are facing trials in their lives right now.
I am thankful for....
my son, Luke, who is so loving and dear. Not a day goes by that he doesn't find a moment to say "I love you, Mom" ~ pure joy for this mother's heart.
From the kitchen....
it's a crock pot cooking day for sure ... and I have one more chicken from my friend Cathy waiting to be supper.
I am wearing....
the most romantic white eyelet lace blouse that I discovered at Goodwill last week, but sadly I still have on my fleece pj pants covered in happy penguins. LOL
Not exactly a fashionista this morning! I will have to change these before my husband gets home today.
I am creating....
a Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy for an order I just received, and then back to my chubby chicks quilt. I finally figured out how to make a chick using the freezer paper applique technique. It may not be technically correct, but it is cute. I figure the quilters long ago had to get creative and so must I.
I am going....
up to the college to pick up my scholarship check. A trip well worth the drive.
I am reading....
little bits of Gladys Tabor between school texts. Her fresh perspective of life always leaves me refreshed. Thank you, Rhonda, for introducing me to her! I now have several of her books in my collection.
I am hoping....
to get all the materials we need to finally build a little chicken coop. This seems to be the most planned project that never seems to get done. But I've scaled back and am going to use MaryJane's very simple Hen Hotel in hopes that Luke & I can build it unassisted.
I am hearing....
that little banty rooster crowing to his heart's content. He has managed to escape again and I'm afraid he's on his own today!
Around the house...
It is a quiet morning. Colton is sleeping in while Luke is doing a science experiment. I see lots of glass bottles and a lighter. I'm thinking that I had better make certain the house doesn't get burned down around us.
One of my favorite things....
fresh linens on my bed. This morning I put a pretty set covered with yellow blossoms. Makes snuggling up for the night even more special.
A scripture thought....
Psalm 93:4
"The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea."
Reminds me that no matter what challenges we face in our lives, our God is mightier still. That just puts my heart at rest.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week....
a quiet week planned with a trip to town for essentials. Maybe a visit to the library so Colton can choose some new books. He really is enjoying his reading independence and I often find him curled up in the chair by the woodstove with one of his favorite books ~ Harry the Dog is one of them. I never get tired of reading them either.
Here is picture thought I am sharing...

Adorable chick block! Looks okidokie to me, but then I'm just a wanna-be quilter! Keep your fire extinguisher handy and have a great rest of the day!
I love-love-love the chicks block. So cute!!! Are they going to be different colors? They are just precious.
Super glad to hear about reading by the fire. They say Lincoln read by the fire and he accomplished much in his lifetime.
Love to read your posts.....

Hi Lea,
Your day today sounds so wonderful. I've made two chubby chicks. I think I may have a new addiciton (thanks to you!) I will show some pics on my blog later in the week. I have so much to do and all I want to do is make Chubby Chicks!
Darling Chick Block, but more importantly I'm glad I stopped by for the words that inspired me.
Hey,,,I'm so excited about my chubby chicks!! I've got four chick blocks done and four more ready to go. So cute. But I'm not doing a quilt. I'm going to use the blocks to make Spring/Easter table toppers. I'm making my mom and myself one and then I want to send one to my Aunt in FL who taught me how to quilt. Thanks, thanks and ever thanks!
The chick is cute! What are you studying in school- if you don't mind my asking?
It sounds like you had a wonderful day! We are supposed to get up to a foot of snow tomorrow. I better start making soup and stocking up on groceries :) Have a blessed week!
