Monday, January 18
The sun is shining and the thermometer reads 58. Though still a bit nippy, I've opened a window in every room to let that fresh country air indoors.
I am thinking....
of my youngest Colton who has cerebral palsy. He's not likely to leave our home to attend college or take a job, and I've been thinking of his future a lot these days. I'm hoping to involve him in the garden even more this year and maybe spark an interest in starting seedlings. Wouldn't it be wonderful if he could have his own little business right here from home?
I am thankful for....
a dear mother and father who love the Lord.
From the kitchen....
the fragrance of country breakfast is still in the air, and I have no idea what I'm doing for supper. Guess I'm hoping that just maybe my husband will pick up a pizza on his way home so we can spend more time outdoors before the promised rains begin.
I am wearing....
a pink and green prairie skirt that comes to my ankle. I'm on the short side so most skirts come to my ankles and I just love it! And of course, an apron on top!
I am creating....
Just finished the last block of my 12 year quilt ~ and since a friend told me that any unfinished projects that are in boxes don't techniquely count as UFOs (and I wholeheartedly believe her), I took the privilege to begin a practice block for my Chubby Chicks quilt. I'm trying to use the freezer paper technique and find that I obviously have a lot more to learn before I begin the real thing.
I am going....
to the post office and maybe make a trip to the library with a quick stop at the Goodwill store ~ who knows what little treasure is just waiting to be found.
I am reading....
a little of everything in between my school texts.
I am hoping....
to keep our homeschool on track though the lovely southern weather calls to us through every window to come out and play!
I am hearing....
only the sound of a distant bird singing while all is still around the house. Colton is napping and Luke is outdoors working on his woodland fort.
Around the house...
It has been an exciting morning. Our new banty rooster escaped so the boys gave chase. And while attempting to capture him, they released two hens! Hmmmm ... the hens have been recaptured but the rooster is still on the loose.
One of my favorite things....
old rolling pins.
I have a small collection and each time I use one, I wonder about the woman before me that used it to prepare meals for her family. My little friend, Lydia, calls them "flatters" ~ makes perfect sense. But now, every time I go to use one I think of her and have to smile.
A scripture thought....
Deuteronomy 28:11-12
"And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in good, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand."
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week....
guess I better get going to plan this week ... but I know I'll be spending lots of time with family.
Here is picture thought I am sharing...

What a lift to my soul and a blessing it is to read your Daybook!
Heartfelt thanks for sharing!
Oh, what a lovely block to your quilt. Wow, you've had some adventures today. When I've tried to corral chickens I realized that's probably why my parent's stuck with cows. They are not easy to catch.
Have a great week.
How lovely your day was...

I always enjoy reading your daybook. It's always a bright spot. I do think it would be nice if your son Colton could have his own little business--that would be wonderful! I hope that you are having a wonderful week!! Karen
