A Simple Woman's Daybook~Day 12

For Today
Monday, November 17

Outside My Window .... our rooster, Alvin, finally got his crow! I'm so proud of him. Of course, I hope he alters his schedule a bit. He found it at 3am this morning and very proudly displayed his skills until daylight.

I am thinking....about Thanksgiving. Next week, we will spend the weekend with my Mom & Dad as well as my sister and her family. It has been a year since I've seen my sister ... the longest period of absence in our entire lives. I miss them sooooo badly. We'll enjoy Thanksgiving on Thursday and celebrate Christmas as a family on Friday. I have lots of gift making and baking to do before then!

I am thankful for.... my husband's job. Such a blessing.

From the kitchen.... cheese stuffed shells, and possibly another pecan pie since Jeff & Luke scarfed down the first one last night.

I am wearing.... a "frumpy" denim and flannel jumper with tights. I happen to like frumpy!

I am creating.... a dessert stand created from an saucer and a candleholder. It's a gift for my niece's birthday. I'll pile it high with her favorite lemon cookies, wrap it up and tie it with homespun. I hope she likes it.

I am going.... to pick more pecans today.

I am reading.... more Back to Basics and the book of Jeremiah in the Bible.

I am hoping.... to get everything on my "to do" list actually done today!

I am hearing.... the boys laughing about something silly. Probably me!

Around the house....loads of laundry and sewing and playing board games with my sick boys. We have a great game called The Armour of God where you move around the board and through different scenerios gain armor like the Helmet of Salvation, Sword of the Spirit, Breastplate of Righteousness, Shield of Faith, Sandals of Peace, or Belt of Truth. It is a wonderful game that teaches children what right actions gain us the armor of God.

One of my favorite things....hot mochaccino cocoa on a cold day in my favorite snowman cup.

A scripture thought.... Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Isn't that powerful? I have this verse up in the boys bathroom so they can read it every morning as they prepare for the day.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week.... a trip to the library and a visit to the eye doctor for Luke. Its' one of very few times that we get to the big town so, of course, I'll have to visit Hobby Lobby for a few skeins of floss. I can just hear the boys groaning, "Oh no, not Hobby Lobby. We'll never get her out of there!" LOL

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

I won this wonderful handcrafted Penny Rug picture from Karen at My Colonial Home. It is even prettier in real life than in the photo. Her handwork is so fine and detailed. Thank you, Karen!

Lea....I love your Daybook entries!
So you're reading Jeremiah too huh? Amazing book to study and see the similarities of our present day with those in Jeremiah's time.
That game reminds me of one I made for my kids when I homeschooled them when they were little.
Your boys are surely blessed!
Here's a scripture for you - "I have no greater joy than to hear my children are walking in the truth". 3 John 4

Thanksgiving is such a wonderful time to gather as a family. I get to be with my Mom and Dad, 3 brothers, their wives and 9 nieces and nephews--such fun and such a blessing!! I hope you have wonderful time with your family. I'm sure it will be a great reunion to see your sister. I wish I lived by you so you could teach me how to make pecan pie. It sounds so delicious. Have a great day, Lea. Julie

LOL- I can just see your boys groaning over Hobby Lobby! *snicker*
I can relate to Alvin's timing being off, Lea- remember the 9 chicks my Little Terrorist hatched off? Well, 6 are roosters, and they all found out they could crow at the same time!!
(LOOONG before daylight, too!!)

Your dessert stand sounds like a wonderful gift...will you post a picture of it I'm wondering? I like tights...they remind me not to overeat for one reason and they are warm and cozy for another. I hope you have a wonderful time with your family...and am sure you will. I like the scripture you shared...and hope your boys are 'all better' soon! Loved reading your daybook.
